Association: Exceptionally strong traditional connection
The legend
The Lia Fáil — Stone of Fál — is one of the great objects of Irish kingship tradition.
Legend says that the stone would cry out beneath or in recognition of the rightful king of Ireland.
It became associated with Tara, Ireland's great royal landscape.
The real place
A standing stone known today as Lia Fáil stands on the monument called An Forradh at the Hill of Tara.
The Hill of Tara itself contains archaeology spanning thousands of years and later became the symbolic seat of Ireland's high kings.
The present stone is traditionally identified with the legendary Stone of Destiny.
Why it matters in Celtic Clash
Few Celtic Clash cards have such a direct visual connection between artwork, legend and something a player can physically stand beside.
Visit the place
Hill of Tara is a major heritage site with public access.
Archaeology does not prove supernatural properties or literal continuity between the present stone and the mythological object.
